mollybierman:

interesting map tool from Kayak that allows you to input your location, price, and time frame … it lets you know where you can go given your constraints

Rebecca MacKinnon: No quick Fixes for Internet Freedom - WSJ.com → online.wsj.com

Circumvention technology is one tactic to support access to information and online dissent. It makes sense to keep funding these tools, so long as activists are given choice. On their own, however, they are not the silver bullet that many claim. The State Department and Congress need to approach freedom of speech issues strategically, based on a clear understanding of purpose and effect.

“Instead, the problem with the attention-span discourse is that it’s founded on the phantom idea of an attention span. A healthy “attention span” becomes just another ineffable quality to remember having, to believe you’ve lost, to worry about your kids lacking, to blame the culture for destroying. Who needs it?” —The Attention-Span Myth - NYTimes.com

I'm curious- Girl Talk's impact on sampled tracks?

Is there an easy way to analyze the impact of Girl Talk’s new album on the listens/sales of the songs he samples?

I’d like to look at something with time on the X axis and Last.FM plays or HypeMachine or maybe even iTunes sales and see if there’s a spike going on right now as the album blows up.

Anybody know?
